We have an electricity theme going following our must see video posted yesterday showing what happened when firefighters directed a stream into a burning transformer. There seems to be a lot more fireworks and a lot more caution taken in this video from midwestnews of a house fire on Greiner Street in Detroit around 1:00 Saturday morning. According to the description, as storms rolled through the area a pole was struck by lightning bringing power lines down on the house. Here’s part of the description with the video:

As the home owner stood across the street watching his house burn, Detroit Fire Department crews were unable to do much more than occasionally spray water on the fire because of the power lines on the ground. DTE Energy was called to the scene however all their crews were already tied up on other incidents, it took almost an hour for a crew to arrive to disconnect power to the area.
