Video posted yesterday by George Lucia of a fire at a home in Escondido, CA on March 19. Here are details from a press release by Escondido Fire Department Battalion Chief Ken Slaven:

At 8:34 this morning, Escondido Fire Department units were dispatched to a reported garage fire near Rose St. and Oak Hill Ave.  Smoke was showing from a distance, and the first engine on scene reported a large amount of fire coming from the attached garage of the home.  The residents were able to safely evacuate from the home prior to the arrival of the Escondido Fire units arriving on scene.  The firefighters quickly attacked the fire and were able to keep almost all of the fire damage confined to the garage and its contents.  Twenty-four Escondido Fire Department staff responded to this incident.  An engine from the Rancho Santa Fe Fire Protection District and an engine from the San Marcos Fire Department covered two Escondido Fire Stations until the Escondido units became available.  The garage sustained heavy fire damage and a vehicle parked in the garage was completely destroyed by the fire.  The structure loss is estimated at $40,000 and the contents loss is estimated to be an additional $10,000.  Six adults and two children live in the home.  The Red Cross was dispatched to assist the family with their needs.
