Early video and radio traffic from homer218 of a house fire yesterday at 313 Springfield Avenue in Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey.

Abbott Koloff & Jim Norman, NorthJersey.com:

A three-alarm fire roared through the top floor and attic of a house on Springfield Avenue on Tuesday afternoon, defying the efforts of a woman and her son who live there to put it out.

Chief Richard Giarratana of the Hasbrouck Heights Fire Department, who lives on the same block, said he and police arrived at the scene and ordered (residents) McNeil and Hernandez to leave.

Giarratana said firefighters had to open two small holes in the roof and break windows on the second floor to ventilate the house.

Firefighters from Lodi, Little Ferry, Moonachie, East Rutherford, Wallington, Carlstadt, Wood-Ridge and South Hackensack helped control the fire, Giarratana said.
