Collapse at body shop injures 4 Greensboro, NC firefighters

Four Greensboro firefighters were injured battling a blaze at an auto repair shop Thursday afternoon.

The fire broke out at Import Knight Body Repair at 811 S. Elm St. at 12:47 p.m. Several fire trucks and EMS units quickly responded.

Greensboro Fire Deputy Chief Clarence Hunter said the roof of the building collapsed, and four firefighters were taken to Moses Cone Hospital for unspecified injuries.

Fire officials say Greensboro Fire Captain Thomas Suddarath with Greensboro Fire Station 11 was injured in the fire. He was transported to Moses Cone but later taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical for burn injuries.

Fire Chief Greg Grayson also says Matthew Clapp with Fire Station 7 was taken to Moses Cone Hospital after receiving injuries to his ankle. William Boswell with Fire Station 7 was treated and released from Moses Cone Hospital along with Brian Bachmein also with the same fire department.
