Two firefighters were hurt while battling a large, smokey fire in Long Island Thursday morning.
The flames broke out at a home on South Long Beach Road in Rockville Centre just before 10 a.m. According to firefighters, the blaze possibly was started in the basement by an oil burner. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The two firefighters suffered minor burns, and one may have suffered from excess smoke inhalation.
