A house fire gutted an Allen Street home in Nether providence Township late Sunday, leaving 13 people homeless.

The fire was first reported at 10:43p.m. at a twin home in the first block of Allen Street. The first police officers on the scene found all 13 occupants out of the house on the front lawn and heavy black smoke coming from the dwelling. Firefighters arrived on the scene to find heavy fire blowing out of the side and back of the first floor of the home. The blaze quickly spread up the stairs to the second floor, according to Fire Marshal Jim Ortoleva.
