The crumbling house on a collapsing bluff above Lake Whitney, which has drawn nationwide news coverage, will be burned at 10 a.m. Friday.
Hill County Judge Justin Lewis said the owners are working with Heart of Texas Demolition LLC to burn the home and then pull the debris back from the cliff’s edge with an excavator. Lewis said the county is offering as much assistance as possible to prevent damage to the lake below.
A chunk of the $700,000 vacation home, which sits in the 1200 block of Overlook Court in a gated community, fell into the lake late Tuesday evening, said Randy Cephus, a spokesman for the Fort Worth District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
