Caught on video (again): Another train-truck crash at same MD crossing as chem explosion

Coverage of last year’s crash & explosion

Video above from ETTCorp at Trailer.net of the collision yesterday (Tuesday) between a CSX freight train and a truck at the same crossing where a train versus garbage truck crash occurred last year that caused a fire and explosions. Below is the is the video of May 28, 2013 incident (more video here).

WJZ-TV:

It’s happened again. A truck collided with a CSX train at the same Rosedale rail crossing where a collision last year caused a train carrying chemicals to explode. Now people in that area are worried about safety.

Investigators have charged the driver of the truck in Tuesday’s incident for failing to stop as she crossed the railroad tracks—a problem some say is happening too often.

Surveillance video captured the moment a garbage truck collided with a train in Rosedale just after 8 a.m. Tuesday. Investigators say the truck driver, 44-year-old Ramona Jones, never stopped as she crossed the tracks.

It’s the same crossing where a collision between a truck and a train triggered a massive chemical explosion 15 months ago.

WBAL Radio:

Officials said the train, operated by CSX Corporation, was traveling southbound carrying a load of beverages when it slammed into the 2005 Peterbuilt truck, which is designed to carry industrial trash bins but was not hauling any at the time. The truck belonged to Nova Services Inc.

It occurred at the same location where a collision between a train carrying hazardous chemicals and a garbage truck last year resulted in an explosion and a partial derailment. Authorities determined that the driver, John Alban Jr., was at fault.
