Boat-cam: Chicago police attempt to extinguish boat fire on Lake Michigan

(Thanks to Andrew Doyle for sending this to STATter911.com.)

Despite what the title above says, this video is from the Marine Unit of the Chicago Police Department. WGN-TV:

Two people were rescued from Lake Michigan after their boat caught fire.

A witness in another boat was able to pull two women and two dogs on to his boat. Police Marine Unit and the The Chicago Fire Dept arrived on scene and put out the fire.  Video provided by the Marine Unit shows the rescue boat approaching the fire as the rescue team begins to put it out.

WFLD-TV:

Nearby boaters swung by to pick up the woman and the dogs before flames broke out, but the man stayed aboard, according to Chicago Police Marine Unit Officer Marcus Buenrostro.

A police boat arrived on scene about a minute after receiving a Mayday call, he said.

At that point, fire was spreading throughout the boat. Flames were creeping toward where the man was standing at the bow of the boat when he jumped off his vessel and onto a police boat.
