This is almost 10-minutes of raw video from Rasheed Lawrence of the Thanksgiving Day 3-alarm fire on the second-floor of an eight-story apartment building at 3103 Good Hope Avenue in the Suitland area of Prince George’s County, Maryland. The firefighters dealt with hoarding conditions and oxygen tanks that fueled the fire. No injuries reported. Additional news coverage.

The three-alarm response was due less to the extent of the flames than the thick smoke the fire created, Brady said. The fire was mostly contained to the apartment, with some damage to the apartments on the third and fourth floors.

“I don’t like using the term ‘pack rat,’ but the apartment was filled with combustible materials,” Brady said. “It certainly hampered the firefighters’ effort to extinguish that fire quickly.” He said the fire’s cause remains under investigation.

At one point, Brady said, oxygen tanks inside the apartment exploded, forcing firefighters to retreat and delay their efforts to extinguish the fire.
