The FDNY says no injuries were reported in the blaze that started at about 8 p.m. near Mermaid Avenue and Stillwell.

“We went in to try to extinguish the fire, there was too much fire,” said FDNY Deputy Asst. Chief Dan Donoghue. “We quickly pulled out and went to exterior operations.”

The fire destroyed a food mart, a Turkish restaurant and a vacant apartment inside the three-story building, just a block away from Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs.
