Kentland VFD featured in new NFFF video

Today, a lot of you are seeing for the first time a new video from the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF). I had the pleasure of producing this one along with videographer/editor Greg Guise. The overall message in the video comes from the leadership of Maryland’s Kentland VFD. They believe that aggressive firefighting and firefighter safety are not mutually exclusive terms.

NFFF is using this video to start a new campaign to further reduce the number of firefighters injured and killed each year. The short term goal is to get the number of LODDs annually to below 50. The video addresses how that can be achieved. Much of it is based on the findings of the Tampa 2 Life Safety Summit earlier this year. You can read more here and download the Tampa 2 report here.

This video came together in about five weeks. It wouldn’t have happened so quickly without the commitment and cooperation of all those you see in the video and many more behind the scenes. In particular, big thanks to Chief Tony Kelleher, Captain Ricky Riley and Lt. Tim McCloskey from Kentland VFD.  And, of course, thank you to Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department Chief Marc Bashoor and Chief Spokesman Mark Brady. These are all people I’ve known for a while (a couple for a very long while). Despite that, they still were willing to work with me,
