UPDATE

Some great research by reader MichiganFF who posted the links to these pictures in our comments section. They are from Google Maps taken at the same fire hydrant on Montavesta Road in Lexington, Kentucky. Seems to be showing a pattern of blocking the plug. In the April 2012 image below it’s a different vehicle, but it has the same “Free Estimates” and phone numbers. Both vehicles are advertising Rio Grande Fence Company in Lexington. Click here to see for yourself.

And someone was parking on this same hydrant way back when STATter911.com first started. Below is an image from April 2007. Click here to view this on Google.

EARLIER

The estimate may be free, but the lesson was a costly one. This was early this morning in Lexington, Kentucky.

WLEX-TV:

The fire happened around 1:45 Saturday morning on Montavesta Road.  Firefighters say the fire started near a water heater in the basement and then extended through a pipe chase and made its way up into the attic.  By the time firefighters arrived smoke was already coming out of the home. The woman inside the home and her dogs were able to escape without injury.

Firefighters tell LEX 18 that a car was parked in front of the hydrant needed to extinguish the fire. Firefighters broke out the windows of the car and ran the hose through the car.
