There were nine people in the three affected homes, including one child.

Firefighters rescued two people from the basement of the home. A 54-year-old woman, suffering from smoke inhalation, was rushed to MetroHealth Medical Center.

“We didn’t get water on the fire right away. The first 10 companies were just trying to get people out of that explosion,” said Mike Darnell, assistant chief of Cleveland Fire.
