‘My wife is a cheater’ arsonist arrested in Colorado

As predicted it wasn’t going to take very long to close this arson case in Arvada, Colorado. Clearly when you write “My wife is a cheater” on the side of the house before it burns you want to be caught. Bond was set today (Wednesday) at $50,000 for William Lindauer who was arrested Tuesday, hours after the early morning fire. Lindauer’s wife and three children were not home when the fire occurred.

KDVR-TV:

A Jefferson County judge said Lindauer can have “absolutely no contact” with the victims in the case after a protection order was put in place for Lindauer’s ex-wife, his three children — ages 9, 7 and 3 — and another unidentified man.

According to the arrest affidavit, Lindauer was seen fleeing the house on a bicycle after the explosion. He told an investigator he didn’t know why he would burn the house, saying he was “drunk” and “stupid.”

The prosecution said it was “an extremely serious allegation,” added Lindauer was a danger to the community and cited his mental stability.

But Lindauer’s public defender said, “While the allegations are serious, they are also sensationalized by the amount of media coverage in this case.”

KUSA-TV:

The wife of the man accused of burning down a home and spray painting “my wife is a cheater” on the outside walls has shared a statement about the incident to 9NEWS.

“Because of the things that are being said… you should know we were married for 9 years,” Bre Lindauer’s statement reads. “We divorced briefly and remarried with the highest hopes and best intentions of making our marriage work.

“While we are trying to deal with this tragedy we are asking for privacy at this time. At the core of this, the victims that matter are our 3 young children. We are trying to make sense of this but the knowledge that this was done at the hands of their father is really hard to comprehend. There have been many struggles in our marriage just like all marriages. Nobody knows what goes on behind closed doors. It’s unfortunate that he would do this based on assumptions from my Facebook friends.”
