National Fire Dog monument vandalized

The National Fire Dog Monument in Washington, DC has been vandalized. Someone used blue paint to deface the statue of the dog and put the initials “K.K.K” on the base. The monument sits next to the quarters of Engine 2 and Rescue Squad 1 across from the Verizon Center in Downtown DC. IAFF Local 36 has a press release out asking for help in finding the person who did this. Click here.

A monument honoring dogs that help detect arson was vandalized overnight in D.C.

The letters ‘KKK,’ were sprayed painted in blue paint on the base of the National Fire Dog Monument, which stands on Fifth and F Streets in northwest D.C.

Blue spray paint also marked the statue of the dog’s head.

A photo of the graffiti was posted to the National Fire Dog Monument “Ashes to Answers” Facebook page.

Work to remove the paint is underway.
