Attempted rescue by committee – good Samaritans try to help trapped motorcyclist

Many of you may have seen this video in recent days (more than 2 million views for it’s original post on Facebook by Byron Holeman). It shows the aftermath of a motorcyclist being dragged underneath a pickup truck on the 91 Freeway in Corona, California on Friday.

We’ve all watched videos where you wonder why no bystanders tried to help. In this case, it seems everyone wants to help and until an off-duty firefighter shows up, at times, they seem to working in different directions.

I do have to wonder with the biker breathing and no fire or hazardous materials involved, what the urgency was to move him. Of course I could be missing something, but am I the only one who looks at his thinking the jack could easily slip or fail, further hurting the biker and taking out a bystander or two?

The good news is none of that happened and the victim came out of it with not much more than road rash. It’s also good news, despite my second guessing and worrying, that people did really care and wanted to help. Read news coverage here.
