Raw video from 3-alarm fire in Cumberland, RI
Raw video from Sarah Hardy and capone taken at a fire yesterday (Monday) on Broad Street in Cumberland, Rhode Island. An evacuation order is given at about 1:45 on the video immediately below.
When fire crews arrived, we’re told the flames were very heavy. Cumberland’s Fire Chief, Kenneth Finlay says the fire was a difficult one to fight.
“Once it got into the roof it had clear air space to travel. We couldn’t get enough crews up there fast enough to get ahead of it and subsequently it burnt through the roof,” said Chief Finlay.
At one point a chimney collapsed, bringing down a power line with it.

“The first companies arriving found heavy fire coming from the Cumberland Street side,” said Cumberland Fire Chief Kenneth Finlay.
According to the chief, the building was rehabbed a few times — which left empty spaces where the fire was able to grow.
