Pre-arrival video from Morganville, NJ house fire – hydrant problems & rekindle

Hydrants cause problems as a home burned twice in Morganville, New Jersey. The first fire was at 7:30 yesterday (Tuesday) evening and there was a rekindle at 4:00 this morning.

Devin Loring & Steph Solis, APP.com:

Twice the two-story house that Joseph Ciccone shared with his wife and three kids caught fire. Firefighters battled the flames for hours, but were delayed by faulty fire hydrants on his block. They had to extend their hoses to a fire hydrant two blocks up.

“Part of the problem was, the hydrants don’t work,” Ciccone said indicating the two hydrants on the corners nearest to his home. “The fire departments had numerous complaints to the water department and it hasn’t been fixed.”

When the fire rekindled, Fire Comissioner John Borden said it spread to the roof of the main home.
