Must see: Cop handles forcible entry at structure fire

In Mingo Junction, Ohio on Saturday evening a fire broke out during the annual Community Days celebration. The fire at 617 Commercial Avenue was near the stage for the event. A police officer apparently got to the scene first and handled the forcible entry duties — first by foot and then with an axe. Shae Dalrymple, Herald Star:

Firefighters were called around 7:30 p.m. to the mostly vacant building and found entry tough because of debris inside. Residents of an upper floor weren’t home at the time of the fire.

According to Capt. Brandon Montgomery of the Mingo Junction Fire Department, firefighters didn’t see flames when they first arrived and suspected the fire was in the basement. The fire was found and declared under control by 8:08 p.m.
