Caught on video: Driver of Philadelphia Fire Department ambulance surfing web while taking child to hospital
The driver of a Philadelphia Fire Department ambulance is under investigation after being caught on video texting or surfing the web on his phone while transporting a child to the hospital.
The original video, seen below, was posted to Facebook by the mother of the child, Ebony Clarke. Her son needed stitches for a cut to the head. The video at the bottom of the page is the story from WPVI-TV.
Clarke said she recorded the video of the driver using different apps as her son, Jeron, was rushed to Albert Einstein Medical Center for a cut on his head he suffered while playing with cousins.
Clarke claims the unidentified driver never put down his phone.
We showed the video to Philadelphia Fire Commissioner Derrick Sawyer.
“I was disgusted,” Sawyer said.
In the ambulance with my baby on the way to the Er. Trying to figure out why the emt driving is on his phone typing long ass paragraphs and browsing Facebook while driving I guess his phone is more important than our life.
