FF rescued at firehouse after bay door incident

There was an unusual rescue call Friday morning at Fairfax County Fire & Rescue Station 430 in Merrifield. A firefighter’s hand somehow became trapped while he was operating a bay door to the firehouse.

Spokesman Dan Schmidt says the hand was caught in the track of the door. Schmidt didn’t refer to it as an extrication, but confirms the firefighter needed assistance in freeing the hand from the mechanism.

All the spokesman could say about the firefighter’s condition is that he was taken to an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
