Must see: Jon Stewart shames ‘worst responders’ during return to The Daily Show
Jon Stewart proves again he’s not giving up on firefighters, EMS workers, police officers and others who didn’t give up after 9/11. After his second recent trip to Capitol Hill last week didn’t bring success for the Zadroga Act, Stewart last night went back to what he does best. He showed up at The Daily Show and embarrassed Congress for this ridiculous and shameful failure to do the right thing. Watch both clips below. It will be worth your time.
And follow Stewart’s instructions to tweet @SenateMajLdr Mitch McConnell and Speaker Paul Ryan @SpeakerRyan using the hashtag #WorstResponders.
Matt Wilstein, The Daily Beast:
With the platform granted, Stewart explained that he was continuing his crusade to make sure 9/11 first responders are given the benefits and medical care they deserve. Just this past week, Stewart returned to Capitol Hill to once again lobby Congress to reauthorize the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act.

“Of course there was no reason not to renew it permanently, but they did not renew it anyway!” Stewart explained of the Zadroga Act. “It expired in September. Soon to be out of money, these first responders—many sick with cancers and pulmonary disease—had to travel at their expense to Washington, D.C. hundreds of times to plead for our government to do the right thing.”
