Inauguration tally: DC Fire & EMS Department spokesman Alan Etter says falls and hypothermia were the most common ailments that kept EMS crews busy around The Mall and parade route yesterday. In the end 201 people were transported to area hospitals with more than 500 calls for service connected to the Tuesday’s Inauguration. We have coverage here and here.

And it doesn’t stop for DC fire: Two fires this morning, including one on North Capitol Street that has left at least one person dead. Others were rescued and are injured. We should have more later.

More to the Metro rescue story: I was sitting in a car in front of the Gallery Place – Chinatown Metro stop when the call came in for someone trapped under a train and I still missed the most interesting part of the story. While shooting the video from an upper level in the station I was unaware that the 68-year-old woman had been saved by the quick thinking of a Houston police officer helping Metro out with the Inauguration crush.
