Caught on camera: Thief hits department while firefighters spread Christmas cheer

A thief used the distraction of firefighters from Oklahoma’s Cashion Fire Department, joined by Santa Claus, spreading good cheer to the community Monday night as cover to take items from the department’s ambulances. Cameras rolled as the thief did his work. Below is a good image of the thief that firefighters hope will lead to the man’s arrest.

Patty Santos, KOCO-TV:

The volunteer crews got a Santa and Mrs. Claus to ride in the fire truck and pick up Santa Wish Lists from children around town on Monday night.

Meanwhile, a thief was caught on camera, sneaking around the fire station, breaking into the ambulances, looking for something to steal. Cashion firefighter Trent Gibson said the bold crook was operating in a station full of people, parents and kids, who were just on the other side of the vehicles he broke into.

“It’s not like he just came back once. He came back a couple of times. He walked around our vehicles,” Gibson said. “You can see us come as we end the tour with everybody, and you can see him walk right there.”
