Must see: Better quality video from close call with ladder engulfed by fireball

Marie Mourant took the video last (Sunday) night at a Moncton, New Brunswick specialty food store that was burning and captured as a firefighter on the tip of an aerial ladder was engulfed in a fireball. We posted the earlier version from Marie Mourant’s Facebook page. Above is the same video, but of a higher resolution that shows more detail. Below are still frames from the video.

The firefighter on the ladder was not injured, but new information indicates other firefighters were also in danger.

Brion Robinson, Global News:

Fire Chief Eric Arsenault told Global News crews were able to bring the fire under control, but there were some tense moments in their fight.

“We had two firefighters working on the roof trying to vent the roof and another firefighter on the ladder and then there was an explosion at the roof level that could have potentially injured or even killed firefighters,” he said.

“Luckily, everybody got off the roof safely and there were no injuries but it was a very scary moment for our fire fighters.”
