Mayday at 2-alarm Buffalo, NY fire – Raw video & radio traffic

Raw video and radio traffic from Don Murtha (Erie County New York Incidents) recorded during a two-alarm fire in a deli at 912 E. Delavan Avenue in Buffalo, New York. The mayday is heard at about 2:35 in the video. All companies ordered out of the building at about 6:00.

Here’s Don’s description:

Engine 33 on scene 1.5 story mixed use building with smoke showing. B-47 on scene requests extra 2&1 to scene for possible victim still inside. Rescue 1 crews on 2nd floor become disoriented and lost they call out a MAYDAY – Ladder 6 is activated as FAST. Emergency head count conducted. B-56 Balances out the 2nd Alarm. All crews are accounted for and Fire Operations continue. B-56 orders all crews out for Defensive Operations.

Firefighters rushed to the scene of a Buffalo convenience store on East Delavan Avenue Friday night after hearing reports of a person trapped inside.

Roughly six firefighters broke into the burning building, intent on finding the person inside. During the search, the fire continued to grow and debris in the Save $ Plus convenience store trapped firemen inside.

The trapped units called “Mayday”, signaling firefighters were in distress in the store, filled with smoke and flame. Fire Commissioner Garnell Whitfield said Buffalo Fire was lucky to get all the firefighters out safe and sound.
