Flames ripped through the Blakeslee Inn and Restaurant in Monroe County on Wednesday, gutting several buildings. Officials said the inn was a total loss.
Heavy smoke and flames poured from the property along Route 940 in Tobyhanna Township, near Blakeslee. No one was staying in the inn, but some employees were there around 8:30 a.m. as flames appeared.
As winds pushed the blaze through several structures, firefighters from Monroe, Carbon, Northampton and Luzerne counties rushed to the scene. The flames didn’t subside until Wednesday afternoon.
