Report Now Out on Houston Office Building Fire that Killed 3 Civilians and Sparked a Dramatic Mayday. We Have Links to Document and Video.

It is called a confidential “Quality Assurance Report”. But TV station KTRK now has its hands on the Houston Fire Department document looking into the four-alarm fire on March 28 of this year. The fire in a mid-rise office building killed three people. It also trapped Captain Eric Abbt. The efforts to rescue Captain Abbt have been well documented in a video that is on the internet.

Here’s how the TV station summarizes the report:

More than 100 of Houston Fire Department Chief Phil Boriske’s firefighters were at the scene of the fire back in March and with that many firefighters at a scene, it’s incredibly important to have them follow a command structure. But the report is very clear. That structure broke down, allowing some officers to freelance, act on their own outside of command’s orders. The report also says some of those decisions jeopardized safety.

KTRK-TV has 2 reports, one looking at the review and the second an interview with Houston Fire Chief Phil Boriske. Both can be found here.
