Caught on video: Burning Chicago flea market collapses roof top parking deck, taking vehicles with it.

An extra-alarm fire at a flea market building in West Humboldt Park kept Chicago firefigters busy today (Tuesday). The fire was reported around 9:45 a.m. at the Buyer’s Flea Market in the 4500 block of W. Division Street. Thanks to Randy Yardumian for sending this to STATter911.com.

Chicago Sun-Times:

The fire was upgraded to a fourth alarm late Tuesday morning, and firefighters were ordered out of the building.

Security guard Cesar Gonzalez said one man was rescued from the rooftop parking deck.

Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford said the fire started in the south end of the building. The blaze was mostly fueled by a potpourri of items, including several cars parked inside the flea market. The cars were stored there when they weren’t being worked on at a nearby repair shop, Langford said.

About a half dozen cars parked on the roof of the building fell through as a result of the fire.
