Listen to mayday radio traffic from collapse that hurt 8 MD firefighters
Below is the Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Service radio traffic from this (Monday) morning’s “mayday” following the collapse at a burning townhouse in Germantown, Maryland. The “mayday” comes at 10:55 into the recording. (Watch the collapse video here.)
Eight firefighters were injured when the front of a burning townhome collapsed onto them.
Firefighters were called to the 3-alarm fire on Churubusco Lane about 1 a.m. Monday. When they arrived, they found the townhome completely engulfed in flames.

Video from the scene shows firefighters battling the fire from the front of the home when they front wall collapsed on top of them. Police and fire crews rushed to help the trapped firefighters.
Fire officials say eight firefighters were transported to the hospital. They are expected to be OK.
