Caught on video: Roof collapse at large party in Frostburg, Maryland

At least three people were hurt, including one seriously, when a porch roof collapsed Saturday at a Frostburg residence.

The incident, reported at 144 Wood St. around 7 p.m., drew the response of Frostburg firefighters and two units from Frostburg Area Ambulance Service. Other EMS units from around the area were dispatched by the Allegany County 911 Center.

The incident happened across the street from where Frostburg police were reportedly in the process of breaking up a large party, according to a summary of the incident posted on the Frostburg Volunteer Fire Department’s Facebook page. As many as 250 were at the party, according to the post.

Law enforcement from Frostburg City, Frostburg State University, MD State Police and Allegany County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched due to the large number of students at the scene. Frostburg City Police Chief Royce Douty describes a chaotic scene when the collapse occurred. Frostburg Police were on the scene of a call concerning a loud party across the street. The party is said to have numbered between 200-250 people.
