Early video, above, shows fire progression as Houston, Texas firefighters arrive at a fire in townhomes under construction in the Heights on Friday evening.
The fire broke out about 6 p.m. near Durham and 24th Street, authorities said.
Melinda Faust, partner in Mel’s Seafood Shack at 26th and Durham, spotted the smoke and went to the scene of the fire right after it started.
“There was a dumpster in the back and behind that dumpster is where that fire was,” Faust said. “And it stayed relatively contained for probably about four or five minutes and then just as the Fire Department started pulling up, it caught the bottom lip of that building and just took off from there.”
