Caught on video: Firefighter slaps firefighter during firehouse dispute
Watch video & news report about slapping incident
In Clarendon County, South Carolina, a firefighter, who is also a police officer, has been suspended for a shift after slapping another firefighter during a firehouse dispute. Someone took video of the firefighter yelling and then striking the other firefighter. That video ended up at the local TV station.
They told us they were disturbed by the behavior caught on tape of a Clarendon County firefighter who is also a Summerton Police Officer, verbally assaulting and slapping another fireman while both are on duty as firemen.
On the tape you can hear the following:
“I ain’t a (expletive) pansy going to get blowed up. (unintelligible) that’s like a (expletive) gun fight with a (expletive) police officer. If you go in there “oh uh I’m gonna get shot.” You know what I would do I’m gonna kick the (expletive) door in, I ain’t gonna get (expletive) shot. I’m gonna kill the (expletive). that’s what I’m gonna do. I’m gonna stay alive in this (expletive) fight and I’m gonna get out of this (expletive). That’s when the (expletive) you go in the damn door and you go in and fight the (expletive) fire. And that’s what you do (expletive). You ole (expletive) pansy (expletive) like you do. “We contacted the Clarendon County fire department and Chief Francis Richbourg referred us to County Administrator David Epperson. Over the phone, Epperson told us the video was brought to their attention last Tuesday, May 24, 2016. He and Chief Richbourg decided this was a personnel matter and suspended fire fighter, who they say is Gene Morris, for a 24 hour shift without pay.
