LAPD’s chief confirms that the shooting today was a murder-suicide by shooting with two people dead.

UPDATE

A little bit of coordination problem between the scene and LAPD’s media office. The media office has reported two people were shot and killed this morning while a spokesman on the scene was doing a live interview at 11:10 am saying he could not confirm any victims. The LAPD media office information is consistent with the previous report by UCLA officials that there were were two people injured.

UCLA Newsroom confirmed the deaths a few minutes later:

Police have confirmed that two people are dead in a shooting at UCLA’s Engineering IV building. Police are now sweeping the building, looking for a shooter.

During the press conference, LAFD confirmed it had a large presence at the scene. The spokesman said there were 11 engine and truck companies and 17 rescue ambulances.
