27-year-old Mary Beth Rollins, a Howard County, MD firefighter/paramedic, died early Thursday morning after falling 65 feet from the roof of a Baltimore museum. It happened around 2:30 a.m. at the Baltimore Museum of Industry on Key Highway.

According to The Washington Post, Rollins was with three companions and slipped on a catwalk. One of the people with her is an employee of the museum. The Baltimore Sun identifies the museum employee as a receptionist. The museum’s director told The Sun, “There was simply no reason for them to be there.”

Rollins had been with Howard County Fire & Rescue for 4 years and was assigned to Station 2 in Ellicott City. Department spokesman Bill Mould told The Post:

“She was an avid athlete, a sports enthusiast who participated in triathlons and softball,”

“She worked with the class that is now in the academy. As you can imagine, there is some grieving going on in the department.”
