(Thanks to Chris Biasella for sending this to STATter911.com.)

WSYX-TV:

A grandfather and his granddaughter were injured after what fire investigators say was an accidental gas explosion at their home. The house on Lock Avenue in south Columbus was leveled in the explosion Tuesday morning.

Jack Morris was released from the hospital Tuesday afternoon after being treated for injuries. His three-year-old great granddaughter remains hospitalized at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Family members say she has burn injuries to her face and other parts of her body.

Columbia Gas says they worked with Columbus firefighters to investigate the explosion, and found evidence there was a release of gas into the home because of “alterations on the customer-owned gas line within the house, beyond Columbia’s influence and jurisdiction.” They say they did not do the alterations on the gas line.
