Early video: House fire in St. Mary's County, Maryland.

Video from a house fire on Friday evening at 43906 Simmonwood Way in St. Mary’s County, Maryland. Below are excerpts from a description of the fire by FF/EMT Jeff Evans on the Bay District VFD website:

Engine 91 arrived on the scene and advised of a 2 story single family home with smoke showing and they were taking the hydrant at the beginning of the road. Engine 73 arrived on the scene as Engine 91’s crew were advancing lines and laid a line from a secondary hydrant at the end of Silverberry and their crew assisted attack crews extinguishing the fire. Engine 32 arrived and picked that up. Truck 3 arrived and positioned on Side “A” and split their crews, while one crew went inside and with Squad 7’s crew opened up for the attack crews and conducted a Primary Search of the residence and the other crew threw ground ladders to Side “A” and “C” and the aerial to the roof. Tower 9 and Squad 3 arrived and their crews conducted a Secondary Search and assisted interior crews as well while the Tower Driver threw ground ladders to the remaining windows. The attack crews encountered moderate smoke and heat conditions while inside finding the fire located in the kitchen with some minor extension. The truck’s driver setup lighting and ventilation and the fire was contained within 15 minutes of department’s arrival. A cat and a dog perished in this fire and two other cats were able to be saved and are unharmed. Sgt. Ammann (Engine 91) held the command of the incident and crews operated on the scene for about 2 hours before returning to quarters.
