A ground-level car fire was to blame for a two-alarm fire at an apartment complex in Houston’s Museum District, Houston Fire officials confirmed Tuesday.

Thick smoke could be seen rising from the Hampstead at Museum District apartment complex building from Highway 288. The two-alarm fire was reported about 2:40 p.m. at the 1500 block of Blodgett Street.

One person was being treated at Ben Taub Hospital for smoke inhalation, officials confirmed. Also, a firefighter was treated on scene for smoke inhalation, but was not transported to the hospital.

Forty-five units were damaged, affecting 100 people, according to firefighters.
