The latest video from David Decker shows the view from the command post and radio traffic during a Thanksgiving Day fire at an auto repair shop on Vogel Street in Newark, Ohio. The fire occurred around 3:30 p.m.
Here is some of the description with the video:
Upon arrival a 50 x 100 auto repair shop had heavy smoke throughout.
NFD responded on the initial assignment with 2 engines, 2 ladders, 2 medics and 1 chief officer. The assignment was upgraded to a working commercial structure fire, bringing an additional 3 engines and 1 ladder from mutual aid companies.
The bulk of the fire was located in the ceiling/roof area which was a light-weight construction. The initial attack was pulled out of the building when signs of roof collapse was noted. The fire was brought under control using three 2.5″ lines.
