D.C. Fire Chief Lights the Fuse on a Potentially Explosive Issue

D.C. Fire & EMS Chief Dennis Rubin thinks it may be time to ban all fireworks in the District of Columbia except those used for public displays. Chief Rubin made the comment during a press conference showing off more than 40 boxes of illegal fireworks confiscated in D.C.

In a very unscientific survey at a fireworks stand, we found little support for the idea from the owner and some customers. But Fire Marshal Gary Palmer points out that he is constantly getting complaints about fireworks problems in neighborhoods.

Chief Palmer and Chief Rubin both talk about the potential for injury and think it is time to address the issue of selling fireworks to the public.
