Helmet-cam video from Chestertown, Maryland house fire

The lastest helmet-cam video posted by Brad Russum is from a house fire Saturday on Chester Court in Chestertown, Maryland (Kent County). Here is a description from the Chestertown VFC website:

On Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 6:13 pm, the Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company, along with mutual aid companies, was dispatched for a Dwelling Fire in the 7800 block of Chester Court. This location is in the Heather Heights development of Quaker Neck, just outside Chestertown. The first unit responded at 6:16 pm and arrived at 6:19 pm with heavy smoke showing. All occupants had safely exited the house.

Crews made an aggressive interior attack and quickly extinguished the fire. There was significant damage to the back porch and fire had also spread up into the roof area. In addition to fire damage, there was damage from water and smoke. The fire was declared under control at 6:59 pm.

Delmarva Power was called to secure the electric service into the home. The Maryland State Fire Marshals Office was also summoned, but cancelled en route. Fire officials were able to ascertain the fire was accidental in nature, caused by improper disposal of smoking materials.

With the home uninhabitable, the occupants made arrangements to stay with a neighbor. There were no injuries to emergency personnel. Crews operated on this incident for just over two (2) hours with twenty one (21) personnel on the call.

Special thanks to Sudlersville for providing station coverage while our units operated on the call.  They also handled an Odor of Gas Inside call while on stand by.
