On Tuesday, February 21, at 10:16am, San Bernardino County Fire responded to multiple reports of a residential structure fire in the 15500 block of Fifth Street in the City of Victorville. Sheriff deputies were on scene stating that smoke and fire was showing from an occupied home.

Units arrived on scene to discover heavy smoke and fire coming from multiple windows of a single bedroom on a single story residence. There was an exposure to the home directly adjacent to the fire. An aggressive interior attack was conducted, and firefighters brought the fire under control in approximately 15 minutes. Primary and secondary searches were all clear of occupants, however multiple pets were found deceased in the home. Animal Control responded for the deceased animals which included 3 kittens, 3 puppies, and a dog.
Three medic engines, one truck company, one medic squad, one chief officer, and an investigator were assigned to the incident. No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported.

The cause of the fire has been determined to be arson, and investigators are following up on several leads. Anyone with information is asked to contact Investigator Mike Ward at 760-995-8190.
