Two Sumrall volunteer firefighters working a wreck scene in Lamar County are dead after allegedly being struck by a hit-and-run driver.
WDAM’s Ryan Moore reports that the firefighters were working an incident on Mississippi 589 at Oloh Road when they were hit by a driver who fled the scene.
Moore identifies the two as Clinton Alvin Beasley, 80, and Loretta Ann Sykes, 53.
According to officials on scene, while the firefighters were out working another incident, a vehicle hit them and then fled the scene.
Another person injured in the accident was transported by ambulance to Forrest General Hospital.
The driver of the vehicle has been apprehended by Lamar Co. deputies.
