UPDATE – Radio traffic: Tanker overturns in Dunkirk, Maryland — two firefighters hurt

On Saturday March 18, 2017 at 0751 hours, crews from the Dunkirk VFD were alerted to 3725 Robinson Road in Huntingtown MD for the House Fire. While responding to the incident, Dunkirk VFD Tanker 5 overturned on Robinson Road. The driver & officer of the Tanker were both injured as a result. One firefighter was airlifted to MedStar in Washington DC. The second firefighter was ground transported to Calvert Memorial Hospital but was later transferred to MedStar.

The accident remains under investigation by the Calvert County Crash Reconstruction Team. Please keep the crew in your thoughts & prayers.

Responding crews found two firefighter who were injured. One is in critical condition after being taken by helicopter to MedStar Washington Hospital Center, while the other was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

The names of those injured have not been released.

The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office is investigating this crash, and ask anyone who may have information about the wreck to call detective Vlad Bortchevsky at 410-535-2800, or email at bortchv@co.cal.md.us.
