Additional video, above, shows the actions by Brockton, Massachusetts firefighters leading to the rescue of a burned elderly man from his apartment balcony yesterday (Tuesday). Videos, below, provide another angle on the rescue and interviews with the firefighters.

WCVB-TV:

“People outside were telling us there is somebody in there, so we grabbed the ladder and we set it up,” Ben Denny said.

Using a ladder truck, a crew climbed up the balcony. “It was close there because the porch area was very tight, so when Zach and him were up there, there was fire going over their heads,” Victor Soto Perez said.

Denny put the victim on his back to bring home down to the ground, and only one thought was in his mind. “It was just adrenaline. It didn’t matter,” Denny said. “He needed to come down.”

Deputy Chief Charles Davis was the commander at the scene, and among the team of firefighters who rescued the victim was his son, Zachary. The deputy chief said he is proud of his son and the three other firefighters involved in the rescue. All four were taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
