The firefighter was shot around 11:30 a.m. in the 3200 block of Reynolds Avenue, near Dolphin Road. The firefighter is an 11-year veteran of the department.
Our colleagues at KXAS-TV (NBC5) report that Dallas-Fire Rescue was responding to a call for help from the gunman’s wife or girlfriend. When paramedics pulled up, the man opened fire, critically wounding the firefighter and shooting a neighbor who was standing outside in the arm.
It is unclear which person was shot first.
According to early reports, officers got a call around 11:30 a.m. Monday about a possible suicidal man on Reynolds Avenue near Dolphin Road and Interstate 30.
When officers got to the neighborhood they reportedly spotted a man with a rifle walking down the street.
There were reports that shots were fired.
Officials say the injured firefighter was transported to Baylor Hospital. His condition is not known.
Police are looking for a black male that is bald, wearing dark green shirt and jeans. He may be armed with a rifle.
