FF accused of setting fire to his grandparents’ home

He hasn’t been publicly identified, but the Mulvane, Kansas Fire Department is short one volunteer. He had been a member for just four months. Now he is an accused arsonist. The house set on fire is where he lived with his grandparents.

Fire investigators told KWCH-TV reporter Cliff Judy that the firefighter admitted setting multiple fires in the basement with the last one doing the trick. It had spread to the roof by the time the first firefighters arrived on the scene. The fire chief says the crew on the first line narrowly missed getting caught under the collapsing roof.

No one was hurt.
