Gus Burns, MLive.com:

A 29-year-old woman escaped after the home she lived in with her parents exploded and caught fire about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday night. Her parents did not.

Firefighters battled 40-foot-high flames and when the blaze was subdued entered the wreckage, Lake Orion Fire Chief Robert Smith said in a statement Thursday.

“An extensive search continued until they found one victim who succumbed in the fire,” Smith said. “An excavator was brought in to finish digging out the structure until the second victim was found.”
