For the second time in two days and the fifth time in less than a month we are telling you about a firehouse burning in the U.S. or Canada. This morning (Friday) it was the Friendship Home Company in Sunbury, Pennsylvania (Northumberland County).

Unlike in the other fires all of the apparatus was saved this morning with the damage concentrated in the bar area and second and third floors.

Jayne Anne Bugda, pahomepage.com:

Fire crews battled a three alarm fire at the Friendship Hose Company  in Sunbury.   The fierce fire destroyed the fire house.  Several major roads in the area are also closed while crews clean up the scene.

The fire started around 6:30 Friday morning on 10th Street in Sunbury.  It started in the kitchen and quickly spread throughout the building.

Fire crews were able to remove their equipment in time but they say the building is in ruins.

Fortunately no injuries are reported and the fire company is keeping their equipment with other area fire departments until they can fire out a plan.

WNEP-TV:

The chief says the fire was contained to the bar area, and the second and third floors.

The Friendship Hose Company supports itself with proceeds from the bar, so this will affect them financially while they are closed down.

As soon as members of the fire company heard about what happened, most of them rushed there right away. Many of the people fighting this fire are members of the Friendship Hose company and call this their worst day in a long time.
